چکیده

A constitutive enzyme present in strains of Aerobacter has been found to decarboqdate phenylacrylic (cinnamic) acids possessing a 4-hydroxy group to the corresponding hydroxystyrenes nonoxidatively. Two such products, 4-hydroxystyrene (4-vinylphenol) and 3 ,Cdihydroxystyrene (4-vinylcatechol) from p-coumaric and caffeic acids, respectively, were purified and identified. Only 4-hydroxystyrene has been previously reported from natural sources as a rare constituent of some higher plants (1, 2). The decarboxylative enzyme, tentatively called 4-hydroxycinnamic decarboxylase on the basis of its specificity, has been extracted, and some properties of the intracelhllar and solubilized enzyme are described.

Study on Trend of Biodegradability of Phenolic Compounds During Photo-Fenton Advanced Oxidation Process

Phenolic acids constitute a major group of pollutants which are recalcitrant to common biological treatment. In this study synthetic wastewater containing a mixture of p-coumaric and p-hydroxybenzoic acids was evaluated for photo-Fenton pretreatment. The changes in biodegradability (ratio of biochemical oxygen demand to total organic carbon (TOC)) and mineralization (TOC removal) were monitored...

Manganese (III)-Bis(salicylaldehyde)-4-Methyl-1,2-Phenylenediimine (Mn-BSMP) as an Inexpensive N2O2 Type Schiff Base Catalyst for Oxidative Decarboxylation of Carboxylic Acids with (n-Bu4NIO4) in the Presence of Imidazol

In this study, bis(salicylaldehyde)-4-methyl-1,2-phenylenediimine (BSMP) as a Schiff base ligand of N2O2-type and its Mn and Fe complex as M-BSMP catalyst were synthesized and characterized by UV-Vis, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The efficiency of Fe- and Mn-BSMP catalysts was evaluated in the oxidative decarboxylation of arylacetic acids with tetra...

Investigating the Role of Three Species of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Growth, Acid Phosphatase Enzyme Activity and Phenolic Compounds in Zinnia Plant under Drought Stress Conditions

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of three identified isolates of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on growth, acid phosphatase enzyme activity and phenolic compounds (phenol, flavonoid and anthocyanin) of zinnia plants (Zinnia elegans L.var. Magellan Red) under water stress conditions. A factorial (two factors) experiment was planned based on a completely randomized design (C...

Transglycosylation Reactions, a Main Mechanism of Phenolics Incorporation in Coffee Melanoidins and Their Inhibition by Maillard Reaction

Melanoidins are brown compounds and a main component of coffee brews [1]. Although their detailed structure is not yet known, some important structural features have been elucidated in recent years, as the presence of covalently-linked polysaccharides, proteins and phenolic compounds. Although polysaccharides depolymerize under roasting conditions, they are also able to polymerize, forming new ...
